Program Description

The Northeast Oklahoma Community Action Agency serves three counties in the Northeast Corner of Oklahoma. These counties are Craig, Delaware and Ottawa. Each year, the agency completes a housing needs analysis and invites citizen participation so that individuals can express their housing needs. In additon to the Weatherization and Home Rehabilitation Programs, the agency is a Community Housing Development Organization which evaluates these needs and forms partnerships with other agencies and municipalities to assist low income individuals to meet their housing needs. There is a serious discrepancy between the housing needs and available affordable housing and rental properties in the three county area. As needs are defined, partnerships are developed and funding is sought to meet the housing needs.

To date, the agency has developed

  • Rental Properties

  • Two new construction single family houses

  • One continuum of Care Permanent home for individuals with drug and alcohol issues

  • A continuum of care home for victims of domestic violence is nearing construction

  • Two continuum of care homes for individuals with mental health issues are nearing constructions

  • Three homes for individuals with disabilities have been acquired, rehabilitated and sold
