NEOCAA - Building Strong Communities

Vision
We believe that individuals and families in Northeast Oklahoma will be successful , self-directing, and responsible for their own lives. They will have good jobs, decent health care, adequate housing, be free of drugs and enjoy a higher standard of living.

We will accomplish this through providing supportive services and education and advocating for the potential of all people, while enlisting community resources.

Mission Statement
Northeast Oklahoma Community Action Agency is dedicated to increasing self-sufficiency of income eligible individuals and families in Northeast Oklahoma through education and supportive services.

Program Description and Services
The agency completes  periodic community assessments for the three county area in order to determine the expressed needs of our service area. This assessment forms the basis of programs that the agency develops to meet our clients’ needs. These programs enable the agency to work toward our mission of increasing self-sufficiency of income eligible individuals and families in Craig, Delaware and Ottawa Counties in Northeast Oklahoma through education and supportive services. To date, the programs which have been developed to meet our clients needs include:

Emergency Assistance
Home Rehabilitation
Down Payment Assistance
Homebuyer Education
Weatherization
Prescription Assistance
Community Housing Development
Volunteer Tax Preparation
Financial Education
Head Start

Through these programs low income clients are able to:

Comfortably live in safe, comfortable, affordable, and sanitary homes
Overcome emergency situations to maintain their self-sufficiency
Learn the basics of homeownership
Receive asset building assistance through Down Payment Assistance and free income tax preparation and budgeting programs
Receive early childhood education and family support services through head start

The effects of economic down turns and emergency events in the lives of low income individuals can be catastrophic. The rising cost of fuel and energy can devastate the life of a low income person on a fixed income. Often they must make choices between eating, getting needed medications, driving to work or keeping their homes warm. All of our programs are designed to supplement, assist or educate these individuals to maintain a successful, self-directing life and seek a higher standard of living.
